One year ago today we were speeding to the hospital as I had the most movie-worthy, drop-to-your-knees contractions. We checked in and about 2 hours later had a tiny miracle in our arms.
They are right in life about some things and the old adage, “girls are different than boys” is definitely true from the start. I thought I had been through it all with Levi, I thought I knew how to handle a baby. Turns out your second child will rip anything you may have known about child raising right away from you. This wild, stubborn and high maintenance child has also given more love, more laughs and more cuddles than I could ever hope for. She is our comedian and I’m also sure she will be the one to make our hair turn gray. Girls. They challenge you daily, but the reward is worth it. They are delicate and so special from the start.
I have loved every minute of having a little girl. Lyla has taught me so much in her first year and we have spent almost every moment of 365 days together. Her personality is larger than life, her appetite is insatiable and her smile and laugh is contagious. Baby girl,
“Your little hand’s wrapped around my finger
And it’s so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you’re dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything’s funny, you got nothing to regret
I’d give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that”
Happy first birthday Lyla Grace. We love you more than life itself.
