Lyla Grace is 18 months old today. She is running, jumping, sliding, climbing, talking and feeding herself all without any help at this point. She is so fiercely independent that it scares the crap out of me and also makes me one proud momma, all at the same time. This child is one who will move mountains. She is spirited and strong-willed, stubborn and sweet all at the same time. Us parents with strong willed little ones are tired now, but it’s all for good cause, as these are the game changers of tomorrow.
This 18 month session is a perfect example of who she is and a representation of the 18 months I have spent with this little one. I special ordered this dress last year with the hopes and idea that I would have this beautiful dreamy session of my little girl playing in the water and sand at the beach. Everything was perfect. Except that’s not what my Lyla had planned. So although she isn’t staring perfectly into the camera with a sunny smile, these photos could not represent her more. Her hair whipping in the wind, while she looks off in the distance, planning her next move and not giving a dang about what I’m trying to do here; that is her. At the time I was disappointed that the session didn’t go the way I wanted, I even tried 3 times to get it “right”. Then several weeks later I uploaded these photos and I realized that THIS is my daughter. I cried because we cannot change our children, we can only embrace them and I could not have captured her spirit better, without knowing it at the time.
So here is a piece of my world, a bit of my fierce and loving little Lyla Grace.

Sarah is prompt, professional, on-point, and incredibly talented. But, more than that she's fun, and easy to be around, she makes you feel comfortable. My husband and I are not really "in front of camera" people, but Sarah managed to make us feel at ease and happy and (if nothing else) make the pictures look beautiful. Sarah is also a wizard. We got our pictures back SO QUICKLY. They're edited, there are a ton of them, they're beautifully shot. You can tell she loves what she does. You can really see it in the way she cares for you.
